It was the worst-kept secret in wrestling for some time and when it was all said and done, Michael Cole unleashed a line that is almost in the same vein as past ship-jumpers like Cody Rhodes, CM Punk, The Motor City Machine Guns, and Andrade.
Welcome to the big time.
Word.
I would have added Lexis King, Ethan Page, and Shawn Spears here, had they made their main roster debut. And I guess, in about a couple of weeks or so, the same can be said with Aleister Black when he becomes a possible Royal Rumble surprise entrant.
But this is Penta's moment now.
On the January 13 episode of WWE Raw on Netflix, Penta had an impressive debut against Chad Gable. Not only is Master Gable an impressive piece of athletic awesomeness, but he is also a company man who can bump for the stars as if he has no tomorrow.
And for Penta, not only did he execute his moves, but he also talked after the match.
I don't know if I will enjoy his WWE matches, but from the looks of things, I will. Yes, he did an impressive Canadian Destroyer, and I believe that move should end matches. But Gable is partly to blame because of how awesome they both executed the move. But I agree that The Penta Driver should be his finisher. He is a big lucha, and he can use that on guys like Ludwig Kaiser, DIY, and even with the bigger wrestling welterweights like The Miz, The New Day, The Usos, and Cody Rhodes.
Unfortunately, he did have a good debut compared to Andrade. For starters, his entire ninja-masked luchador getup will be a hit. Again, he talked, and he talked in English. This means while his speech skills are limited, he can square off against the other wrestlers.
And as far as Aleister Black and the eventual debuts of Rey Fenix and Ricky Starks, this is a great way to lure the AEW Originals to the Netflix side of things. While MJF and I guess Wardlow are languishing in whatever situation they are going to be in the next three to four years, these wrestlers are getting the right treatment, at least at the start of their tenures.
WWE needs to institute a revolving door though. The fans and the wrestlers need to know that NXT is not the right way to re-introduce a person because that distinction is for TNA, and someone has to go for other people to thrive.
