The UE Red Warriors entered UAAP Season 87 with hopes of breaking through to the Final Four. While they showed flashes of brilliance throughout the elimination round, their journey ultimately ended in heartbreak after falling short in a playoff for the last semifinal spot.

UE finished the elimination round with a respectable 6-8 record, tying for fourth place and forcing a playoff against the Adamson Soaring Falcons. However, they couldn’t get over the hump, missing out on the Final Four for another season.

Precious Momowei emerged as the team’s most dominant player, averaging a double-double while also contributing defensively with 1.14 steals and 0.93 blocks per game. His presence in the paint kept UE competitive in many of their matchups. Wello Lingolingo provided scoring support, averaging 8.33 points and 4.80 rebounds, while also leading the team in steals with 1.27 per game.

Despite individual standout performances, the Red Warriors struggled to maintain momentum, alternating between impressive wins and frustrating losses. Outside of Momowei, UE lacked a consistent go-to scorer, leading to difficulties in crunch-time situations. The season came down to one game, but UE couldn’t capitalize, falling to Adamson in a win-or-go-home battle.

While missing the Final Four is disappointing, UE showed promising signs for the future. With Momowei’s dominant presence inside and young players developing, the Red Warriors could be a team to watch in the coming seasons. If they can find more consistent scoring options and tighten up defensively, they’ll be in a much better position to contend for a Final Four spot in Season 88.

UE fans have seen their fair share of ups and downs, but there’s reason to be optimistic. With the right adjustments and continued growth, the Red Warriors could finally break their Final Four drought soon.
