THOUGHTS | THE JM BRAVO INCIDENT

This is a graphic watch, and I would rather have people find the links on social media.

Anyway, JM Bravo was one of those tasked to lead the LPU Pirates at the start of NCAA Season 100 with the departure of current NLEX Road Warrior Enoch Valdez and incoming Benilde Blazer Shawn Umali.

That said, Bravo missed seven games because of a spine injury, and it didn't help matters that star guard Mac Guadana followed him to the sidelines, a couple of games later. The Pirates are currently led by the robot-like scoring assassin John "Ato" Barba, team captain Vincent Cunanan, Gyle Montano, and Renz Villegas. They are in a tight, four-way battle for the fourth spot against the Letran Knights, Perpetual Altas, and EAC Generals, with six or seven games left in their schedule.

Arellano is technically still in the running, but they have a tough climb waiting for them.

This is why, during that play, the Arellano Chiefs were happy as heck, and Barba was distraught. The Pirates missed a bunch of shots, and Renzo Abiera was able to corral an all-important rebound for the Chiefs with eight seconds left in the game clock.

During the chaos, Abiera and Bravo's heads clashed against each other resulting in the unfortunate incident.

I guess Barba should have known better, but he was also a scared friend during that time. It's not like his intentions were bad either. Since Season 98, I have seen the LPU core together at their best and their worst. Barba, Bravo, Valdez, Guadana, Umali, Cunanan, Montano, Omar Larupay, Genesis Aviles, and Villegas have shared college life XP inside and outside the court.

More than the players, the medics should have taken action immediately. I guess LPU needs to have some of their med students or a med staff altogether inside the FilOil EcoOil Centre especially if Bravo is playing. People thought his spine injury was career-threatening and if he's not going to sit out, the best way to ensure his safety is by having a team by their side. They just need to iron out the kinks about this, I guess, since team officials can't come inside the hardcourt unless it's a timeout.

The event that unfolded will likely get Bravo to concussion protocol.

As much as LPU is looking to survive the elimination round, I think they should rest Bravo for the time being even if his injury isn't as damning.
