Ohhhhhhhhh!
Shots fired!
So the NXT June 11, 2024 broadcast had Cody Rhodes. While yeah, it's nice to see Rhodes elevating Trick Williams, this backstage segment is low-key awesome.
Why twit or X it, if you can do it in front of a crowd?
Also, I know Shawn Spears is at the tail-end of his career, but the current forms of the former Brian Pillman Jr. and Ethan Page are far better than what they were doing in AEW.
Yes, Page's debut could have been handled better. In Battleground, I felt like the WWE crowd was really clueless as to who Page is. This is a guy that if he had a Josh Alexander push in AEW, would have had a Jordynne Grace-like response. However, Page never really had a great feud other than numerous faction warfares and was relegated to Ring of Honor.
I also do not like this Lexis King losing angle to Dante Chen. I may be Asian, but most non-Japanese WWE wrestlers do not have the next-level swagger. Xia Li's WWE run was an example of what I am talking about, and this version of Dante Chen is just like the babyface version of Xyon Quinn's brief company run.
But again, they were represented better in NXT. Page's first NXT big event is in the main event with champion Trick Williams while Lexis King was given the storyline that he is not just a second-generation wrestler. Again, Spears is at the tail-end of his career, but while he had a good start in AEW when he was called The Chairman and had Tully Blanchard at his side, he was never really over as compared to his initial NXT run as Tye Dillinger.
So yeah, when Cody Rhodes said that they are in a good place, in some ways, you are either thinking that Triple H and Shawn Michaels are taunting Tony Khan OR this is some sort of Bray Wyatt-like message to encourage the disgruntled AEW stars, as well as the WWE stars with expiring contracts to have the WWE as their primary objective.
