I am not an AEW fan.
I want the promotion to succeed, but even from their start, I knew I was a WWE fan.
That said, I thought the Will Ospreay versus MJF match was the bomb.
It was one of the best television matches that I have ever seen, disregarding the 2023 Ironman match between Kurt Angle and Brock Lesnar.
I like how they paced themselves in the middle of the match. I don't know if Ospreay's shoulder was that injured, but it was believable, especially with MJF delaying the interactions. The Macho Man elbow to Ospreay lying prone on a table was awesome as well because you don't usually see MJF using the top rope.
Down to the final minute, I like how the part 2 of this would have repercusions. Ospreay's conflict to use the Tiger Driver caused him to lose his title, while MJF's clutch move to use the diamond ring without hesitation made him win the title.
There were some lapses, but it's not like I'm going to crow about it. This is a great match from two great wrestlers and I was really hoping that instead of the AEW International Title, they were fighting for the belt that Swerve has at the moment.
But I really question AEW for giving the match on free television instead of All-In, as the pay per view's main event.
I know this is the 250th episode of AEW Dynamite, but if they are trying to milk this as a trilogy with the second match on All-In, people are going to buy this, but the mystique of the match is gone. MJF and Ospreay only had more or less two weeks of interaction, and they could have given more to simmer the feud. Moreover, I thought the difference between the match and the rest of the show was glaring.
I guess Tony Khan wants the first match to be the top match, but it also makes the main event match and angle a hit or miss.
