Here’s the thing.
This is my new project.
This website has featured a bunch of things like my penchant to collect PBA player stats, Funko pops, basketball cards, and other collectibles.
But now, here comes a new passion.
It has been a month since I bought...
1 COSMIC BLUE GLO TETRA
1 GALACTIC PURPLE GLO TETRA
1 STARFIRE RED GLO TETRA
2 ELECTRIC GREEN GLO TETRAS
2 SUNBURST ORANGE GLO TETRAS
4 SERPAE TETRAS
6 EMBER TETRAS
6 LEMON TETRAS
3 POWDER BLUE GOURAMIS
3 DWARF GOURAMIS
3 BLOOD RED GOURAMIS
3 MOONRISE PINK GLO DANIOS
3 ELECTRIC GREEN GLO DANIOS
3 SUNBURST ORANGE GLO DANIOS
2 PANDA CORYDORAS
2 BRISTLENOSE PLECOS
1 RAINBOW SHARK
1 BALA SHARK
4 GOLDFISH FEEDERS
Yup. I have bought 52 fishies since starting the hobby last month. I am a collector but I started this thing for my kid. He wanted an aquarium and I gave him one.
As a newbie, I understand that I should go for quality over quantity.
I just can’t help myself.
With that said, after a month, these are the fish left in my tank:
1 COSMIC BLUE GLO TETRA
1 GALACTIC PURPLE GLO TETRA
1 STARFIRE RED GLO TETRA
1 ELECTRIC GREEN GLO TETRAS
2 SERPAE TETRAS
6 EMBER TETRAS
6 LEMON TETRAS
3 POWDER BLUE GOURAMIS
2 DWARF GOURAMIS
2 BLOOD RED GOURAMIS
3 MOONRISE PINK GLO DANIOS
3 ELECTRIC GREEN GLO DANIOS
3 SUNBURST ORANGE GLO DANIOS
2 GOLDFISH FEEDERS
36 out of 49.
Dammit.
From keeping a lid to protect the jumpers to scolding my gouramis for eating the little fishes and the algae eaters, I still have a long way to go in terms of fishkeeping.
The sucky thing about this is that I think I need to revive the other tanks in my house. I know I have a large tank but it’s probably best to keep a place for nano fishes than get eaten by the gouramis. The danios are okay but the little tetras are just getting picked off. I also need to brush up on a bunch of aquarium videos. I need to learn many things like PH levels, water temperature, nitrates, ammonia, and other important things. So far, I have learned aquarium fish compatibility the hard way and it’s not a cheap price.
I don’t want to become some sort of aquarium expert but at least I want to know how this thing works. I love looking at my aquarium especially when work gets in the way of life. It has that calming therapeutic effect. If you are a megalomaniac with some sort of god complex, it’s also nice to see a spot you created that is thriving. Aside from the fishes, I have learned to like plants as well as aqua scaping. I am not the best aquascape guy but I think I did well in pulling off a stream-like location with lush vegetation.
With that said, my next aquarium build would probably be a tank with Spongebob characters.
Off to the next month!
