SINGLE'S INFERNO 3 PARTICIPANT IS A FORMER PBA ASIAN IMPORT!

Updated: Dec 17, 2023

So I had to stop watching Single's Inferno 3 to write about Lee Gwan Hee.

In the first episode, it was revealed that he is a popular basketball player.

And then I remember something.

Going to the REAL GM website, Lee averaged 8.9 points, 3.2 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 0.9 steals in 13 games for the Phoenix Fuel Masters.

Yes! He's that guy, back when the PBA had Asian imports. Here's a link to one of his highlights. I wanted to embed the link but the One Sports Youtube channel is "douchy" in their playback policies.

Here are some of his highlights while playing at the East Asia Super League.

I initially thought he was once a former Ginebra import. You know, the Korean Asian import that replaced Sanchir Tungalag. However, it came back to me that I was thinking about Kim Ji Wan. KJW currently plays for Ulsan Mobis Phoebus, the same team that once had former San Miguel Beermen Henry Sims and former Gilas prospect RJ Abarrientos. Last season, Kim played for Jeonju KCC Egis and his teammates included naturalized Korean Ra Guna (or former Star Hotshots import Ricardo Ratliffe,) Fil-Canadian Calvin Epistola, and current TNT import Rondae Hollis-Jefferson.

So yeah. I just chanced on Single's Inferno now. I know the show but I don't like dating shows. I just looked at the show because I wanted to see the participants as well as their current Survivor-like format. Well, I thought they were going to hunt for their food but I guess with the current set of players, their bodies are more eye candy than the workhorse type. I don't know what he'll win here but judging from his numbers, Lee Gwan Hee can use the exposure if and when he decides to retire. Looking at his current numbers, his minutes have decreased from last season and he has settled on a 3-and-D role. A shooting guard's career normally starts to fade when shooting and defending from the outside are only his main components. When his rebounds and even assists begin to drop, he automatically becomes disposable.

But I'm not saying he's on the verge of retirement - as he's a healthy mid-30s player. Lee is currently playing for the Changwon LG Sakers, a very popular team in the KBL. His teammates this season include former NBA player Dante Cunningham and former Benilde Blazer Justin Gutang.

I don't want to see PBA players go topless and do bold movies. I know it's impossible for a Korean variety to go to Dire Straits even if they are a Netflix show, seeing Kelani Ferreria do things to Aubrey Miles is ultra traumatic.

But I will still root for Lee Gwan Hee.
