I am just going to phone this in.
Kind of in a lot of things at the moment.
I am writing this at a time when I should be timecoding... and it's almost 11pm!
Ato Ular is still on top of the rankings but the rest of the rookies have seen their numbers dip. With that said, almost making the list is Allen Mina. The Terrafirma guard averaged 10 points, 2 rebounds, and 1.5 steals in his last two games.
10 | ENCHO SERRANO - PHOENIX
RD 2 | PICK 19 | DLSU GREEN ARCHERS
PREVIOUS RANK: 8
2022 PHL CUP (AS OF JUL 19) | 5.7PPG, 3.9RPG, 1.4APG
Another player outside the top ten that's trending upward is Chris Lalata. I know Serrano and Lalata play different positions but at the moment, the former DLSU guard's minutes are dismal.
9 | GIAN MAMUYAC - RAIN OR SHINE
RD 1 | PICK 5 | ATENEO BLUE EAGLES
PREVIOUS RANK: 7
2022 PHL CUP (AS OF JUL 19) | 7.1PPG, 2.1RPG, 1.3APG, 1.3SPG
Gian Mamuyac's rank is a bit deceiving because he actually did well in helping Rain or Shine get multiple wins in the last two weeks.
8 | BRANDON GANUELAS-ROSSER - BLACKWATER
RD 1 | PICK 1 | UC-RIVERSIDE HIGHLANDERS
PREVIOUS RANK: 10
2022 PHL CUP (AS OF JUL 19) | 11.4PPG, 1.8RPG, 0.8BPG
Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser's entry shook up Blackwater in the negative sense, but in time his emergence will be a good thing. With that said, I'm kind of surprised that he's only getting 1.8 rebounds per game.
7 | TYRUS HILL - CONVERGE
RD 1 | PICK 7 | DLSU GREEN ARCHERS
PREVIOUS RANK: 9
2022 PHL CUP (AS OF JUL 19) | 7.2PPG, 3.7RPG, 0.3BPG
Tyrus Hill's numbers are hit or miss, depending on the situation. With that said, he really needs to be consistent. The problem with Converge is that they have a multitude of young big men that could see little to no action when the imports hit the country.
6 | JAVI GOMEZ DE LLANO - TERRAFIRMA
RD 1 | PICK 8 | UP FIGHTING MAROONS
PREVIOUS RANK: 6
2022 PHL CUP (AS OF JUL 19) | 6.8PPG, 4.10RPG, 1,9APG
After netting a career-high of 19 points, the former UP Fighting Maroon was held scoreless. I guess this is because of a botched shot that could have given Terrafirma its first win? The dude needs to play through the flaws because as it stands, Team Dyip can use all the help it can get.
5 | TYLER TIO - PHOENIX
RD 2 | PICK 14 | ATENEO BLUE EAGLES
PREVIOUS RANK: 5
2022 PHL CUP (AS OF JUL 19) | 11.7PPG, 1.9RPG, 1.1APG
Tyler Tio is still a streaky shooter and Phoenix needs every help they can get. The Fuel Masters are still in the hunt and it gives Tio the opportunity to showcase his talents especially since he is an important part of their rotation.
4 | JEO AMBOHOT - CONVERGE
RD 1 | PICK 3 | LETRAN KNIGHTS
PREVIOUS RANK: 4
2022 PHL CUP (AS OF JUL 19) | 7.1PPG, 6.8RPG, 0.8BPG
It feels like Jeo Ambohot has good numbers but it also feels like he can do more. After all, Converge has a battalion of young frontliners that could lose their minutes when the imports enter.
3 | JM CALMA - NORTHPORT
RD 1 | PICK 6 | SAN SEBASTIAN GOLDEN STAGS
PREVIOUS RANK: 2
2022 PHL CUP (AS OF JUL 19) | 8.3PPG, 5.6RPG, 1.0APG
I don't know who JM Calma pissed off but he is barely averaging a basketball quarter in his last two games. This is why his numbers are down. I hope his playing time picks up because the next conference would give him fewer opportunities to succeed.
2 | JUSTIN ARANA - CONVERGE
RD 1 | PICK 4 | ARELLANO CHIEFS
PREVIOUS RANK: 3
2022 PHL CUP (AS OF JUL 19) | 8.1PPG, 8.3RPG, 1.3APG, 1.1BPG
Arana's minutes may have taken a hit but he is still an almost double-double scoring machine. And what's cool about the former Arellano product is his defensive stats as he leads all rookies in rebounds and blocks.
1 | ATO ULAR - BLACKWATER
RD 2 | PICK 13 | LETRAN KNIGHTS
PREVIOUS RANK: 1
2022 PHL CUP (AS OF JUL 19) | 15.0PPG, 8.2RPG, 0.3APG
Ato Ular is still on top of our list. I know Blackwater has been dismal as of late, but at least he still has his numbers. He is a walking double-double and... I just want the Bossings to do well this season so they won't throw away Ular and send his career down the drain.
