I think of the two civil wars, I love Judgment Day more than The Bloodline. The latter is the more major storyline between the two, but in some ways, this is more straight up.
Basically, there are two major layers here. One has Damian Priest and Finn Balor, and the other has Rhea Ripley, Liv Morgan, and Dominik Mysterio.
Now the gripe of the two sides is valid. The heels have a point here, and this is why you can't fault the other members of Judgment Day for doing what they did.
On one hand, Priest kind of power-tripped when he had the briefcase as well as the championship. You can say that he looked down on Balor, who before Judgment Day, was the first leader of The Bullet Club which also had Karl Anderson, Tama Tonga, Luke Gallows, and The Young Bucks. If Balor wanted to be a leader, he would have asked it the second they deposed Edge. Instead, they went with the "no leader" rule.
Hahaha.
And then we have Rhea Ripley acting like a girl boss while others follow his bidding. While Balor and Priest are immune to this, Dominik is treated either as a pet, little boy, or sex slave. I know none of these words should be part of one sentence to describe a human being, but it is what it is. On the other hand, Liv and her revenge tour is everything that Mami isn't. Because of her, Dominik finally won against Rey Mysterio, Balor, and JD McDonagh are tag team champions (and this is also JD's first main roster title,) and as absurd as this is, Carlito finally got his PS5. It did help that Liv was the one harassing Dominik and it was the same old thing when Rhea returned.
Also, instead of helping Dominik, Priest was constantly giving him teachable moments.
For JD and Carlito, Balor and Dominik embraced them into the roster while Priest and Rhea weren't as accommodating.
Again, the gaming console might be a shitty excuse for Carlito, but it made the clubhouse a place where dudes hang out and not the dark quarters that Judgment Day once was.
And while they pulled the trigger here, at least the Terror Twins are still together. Priest and Rhea have become full-blown faces while Balor finally becomes a leader again. JD is elevated while Carlito might still look for his PS5, while also being the elder statesman of the group. As for Dominik, this is his chance to get elevated as well, as finally, he is no longer Rhea Ripley's sidekick. Hopefully, this could send Balor to the upper midcard and Dominik to the secondary title landscape.
However, I don't know if that would be the case since Gunther and Bron Breakker are monster-type champions who would likely hold the belt for the foreseeable future.
Anyway, this was the one thing missing in Damian Priest's championship reign. They tried to portray him as a man of the street, but his turn hasn't been completed yet. This time, the fans are embracing him because he now has a reason to fight.
He's not going to fight because it's mandatory, or it's his obligation, or because he says he's a fighting champion and all that crap said by good guys when they have titles.
It's because he wants to destroy his opponent.
And the same can be said with Rhea Ripley.
This is awesome.
