I saw this on the One Sports YT channel.
Anyway, Ginebra just eliminated Magnolia at the Ateneo Blue Eagle Gym on a Saturday.
I saw the Terrafirma versus San Miguel quarterfinal match. With that said, it just dawned on me that I am not used to seeing a playoff game on a Saturday. These kinds of games should happen inside a big arena. I know the PBA is not drawing fans at this point but I think they must still find a way to play their important games in either the MOA Arena or at the Araneta Coliseum. I just think playing in a gym where there is no direct ride for commuters is going to be a pain for them.
And again, the Ateneo Gym feels like a last-minute decision, and I don't mean this as a form of disrespect. If Manila Clasico and the Terrafirma versus San Miguel match are indeed scheduled for the venue, then they must find a way to pimp the location. Most NCAA games are played at the Filoil Arena, so it's okay for the league to just lay off on the venue announcements and just spam the TV ads with player action shots. Moreover, most arena games are going to be watched by the students and alumni. Again, the PBA's inability to have an established fanbase for the teams hurts their product.
And then there's the game in itself. Ginebra just dominated Magnolia. It's insane to see Jed Mendoza having this much screen time in the fourth quarter of an important game. Is it me, or is this going to be Chito Victolero's future problem?
