Jayjay Helterbrand brought speed, swagger, and showmanship to the hardwood during his time with Barangay Ginebra. Often referred to as the backcourt soul of the Fast and the Furious duo with Mark Caguioa, Jayjay thrived in the spotlight and in the hearts of the crowd. His breakout stretch came between 2008 and 2009, where he earned back-to-back Best Player of the Conference honors and took home the 2009 PBA MVP award. A two-time Mythical Five selection and a Finals MVP during Ginebra’s 2007 Philippine Cup triumph, Helterbrand also starred in multiple All-Star games, winning All-Star MVP honors twice. With six championships under his belt, Jayjay’s legacy isn’t just about the accolades—it’s about the passion, energy, and flair he brought to the Ginebra faithful for nearly two decades.
