Before naturalized players became a norm, Eric Menk was already blurring the lines between local and import players. Dubbed “Major Pain”, he stormed into the league with Tanduay and immediately made his mark with a Best Player of the Conference award as a rookie in the 1999 All-Filipino. After moving to Ginebra, his game only matured—culminating in a 2005 MVP season where he was the undisputed leader of the crowd-favorite Kings. Known for his bruising post play and relentless hustle, Menk collected 3 Finals MVPs, 4 championships, and a reputation as one of the most reliable power forwards of his era. A true workhorse with both skill and grit.
