San Miguel lucked out for some reason when Shell - for some reason - really wanted to get their hands on Noy Castillo. Now I am not saying Castillo is a dud. However, the only way they could escape the embarrassment of snubbing Demolition Danny is if they got a prime version of Romel Adducul or Ali Peek in the 1998 PBA Draft. Ildefonso went on to win five consecutive Best Player of the Conference awards as well as becoming the league's third back-to-back MVP winner.
