Jayson Castro was about to join NBL's Singapore Slingers but the team pulled from the Australian league and while the team joined the newly-created ABL, they just couldn't lure The Blur. Instead, they decided to let Jayson Castro walk out of his contract provided he could get a viable replacement.
Al Vergara is part of the Harbour Centre squad that dominated the Philippine Basketball League. It's the same team as The Blur and the Slingers agreed to acquire Vergara. The former St. Francis Dove, the guy who was also responsible for feeding his former college teammates like Ranidel De Ocampo and Ervin Sotto, had multiple stints with the Slingers - and during that span, he also had a couple of PBA stints.
