A true pillar of Filipino basketball, Abe King, Jr. earned the moniker "The Chairman of the Board" for his fierce dominance on the defensive end and his incredible rebounding ability. His career, spanning from 1977 to 1994, saw him lead his teams to 13 championships, contributing immensely to both Toyota's success in the late 1970s and early 1980s and Great Taste’s rise later in his career. Known for his grit, King was selected to the 1982 Mythical Five and 1985 Mythical Ten, and made his mark with two All-Defensive Team selections in 1985 and 1988. Though he never won MVP or Finals MVP honors, his consistency, leadership, and toughness were crucial in building the foundation for the success of his teams. A player revered for his role in transforming the center position in the Philippines, King remains an icon in the PBA’s history.
