The four-point line is polarizing.
That said, it did generate buzz.
It also created a new dimension on how basketball is done.
Also, my biggest fear with the line is that it hurts inside scorers and further diminishes the importance of the mid-range jumper.
June Mar Fajardo just had a game in which he had 21 points and 14 rebounds in the first half to finish the game with 37 points, 24 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, and 2 blocks with a 78 percent clip from the 2-point area.
Because the defense got stretched, JMF laid waste to his opponents.
In nine games, 18 players have successfully attempted the four-point shot. Five of these players have had two or more successful attempts. Chris Banchero is the first PBA player to make a four-point shot and the first player to make the shot in back-to-back games. Meanwhile, Scotty Hopson is the first import to hit the shot, and alongside Magnolia's Jerrick Ahanmisi, are the only players to make the shot thrice in one game.
My problem with the line is that it's too near because I anticipated the shot to be solely for circus shots. Bakits had this awesome vlog on how the line revolutionized the current PBA landscape.
And for the haters, I will spam this YouTube clip on how the three-point line was first introduced. I will also make a blog about the weirdest basketball rules, no thanks to one of my buddies... and I could have worked on this had not for my work commitments.
