You know that thing when a person wins an individual award before a PBA Finals game and his team loses?
Well, it did not happen here.
In fact, the San Miguel Beermen finally broke the 100-point barrier with an emphatic 111 to 101 win over the Meralco Bolts.
Newly-christened Philippine Cup BPC June Mar Fajardo had a monster game of 28 points, 13 rebounds, and one block. He also went 64 percent from the field and more importantly, 83 percent from the free throw line. Meanwhile, Commissioner's Cup BPC CJ Perez had 22 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists, a steal, and a block. SMB also got help from Marcio Lassiter who had 18 points and four triples, as well as Chris Ross, who had six points, six assists, and four steals.
Terrence Romeo finally got back from injury and had seven points.
And finally, Jorge Gallent listened to the fans by unleashing Vic Manuel, who had eight points in just seven minutes.
Meanwhile, the game spoiled Chris Newsome's superb scoring night when he led all scorers with 40 points and 12-of-18 from the field. Chris Banchero scored 21 points, with Cliff Hodge having another double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds, but the rest of the team struggled.
Maybe it's time for Meralco to unleash their magic bunot.
