The last time I watched a full game of baseball was when Randy "Big Unit" Johnson and the Arizona Diamondbacks won the World Series against Derek Jeter, Mariano Rivera, Jorge Posada, Andy Pettitte, Alfonso Soriano, Roger Clemens, and the rest of the New York Yankees.
I am a New York Yankees fan of that time, but I am also a fan of Big Unit and Curt Schilling.
Byung Hyun Kim as well.
Anyway, I have grown fat during the pandemic era and I have been spamming baseball jerseys on Shopee. Right off the bat, I have the jerseys of Jeter, Johnson, Ichiro Suzuki, Mike Trout, Austin Riley, Jose Altuve, and Shohei Ohtani. My sister bought me a Corey Seager jersey of the Texas Rangers, and it's my only original baseball jersey.
Oh, about Ohtani, I have three jerseys of him - two with the Los Angeles Angels and one with his current team, the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Sho-time, baby!
Confession time, though. I haven't seen his games up until this time.
Maybe it's because SPOTV has an MLB coverage. That said, it's amazing how jersey collecting brought my love back for baseball. Also, I think the LA Dodgers is a great return team to watch the sport. Thanks to Shopee's Class A uniforms, I became familiar with most of the Dodgers. The thing about me is that I look at their backstories before I buy their jerseys. I have been a fan of Ichiro Suzuki back in the day so his jersey is a given, but I don't know much about the current set of players. I bought a Riley jersey because my son's name is Railey and I bought the Altuve jersey because of his underdog story, as well as Houston's cheating scandal.
I am on the verge of buying Seiya Suzuki, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, and Hideo Nomo.
When the Dodgers faced the Tampa Bay Rays, I have already checked out the stories of Mookie Betts, Clayton Kershaw, and Freddie Freeman. I was hoping to see Yoshinobu Yamamoto but he's injured. I watched Kike Hernandez's home run to tie the game though. I also got to know about Will Smith (and how they have hip-hop music every time he steps onto the plate,) Gavin Lux, and Teoscar Hernandez.
Tampa Bay was up 3 to 0 when Kike hit a home run in the fifth inning to tie the game. As far as Shohei goes, he was hitting balls but the Rays kept on catching them. The designated hitter is hitting, but the hits weren't that good.
Then the ninth inning came. Bases loaded. Shohei is the last batter left for the Dodgers in regulation.
And then this happened.
That fan who fumbled that historic baseball must be beside himself.
I am going to try to watch as many Dodgers games as possible. I will try to watch Texas Legends and New York Yankees games as well, but at the moment I am sold that Ohtani is a generational talent.
Also, whoever did this to the girl reporter is insane.
