LPU PIRATES | NCAA SEASON 100 STATS

FROM GMA NETWORK
FROM GMA NETWORK

Like in Season 99, the LPU Pirates delivered a competitive performance in NCAA Season 100. While their season ended in the Final Four, the Pirates showcased their fighting spirit and potential for future success despite Enoch Valdez's graduation, Shawn Umali's move to Benilde, and John Bravo and Mac Guadana's injuries.

ELIMINATION ROUND

The Pirates finished the elimination round with a 10-8 record, earning the third seed and solidifying their place in the Final Four. Yes, the Pirates finished the elimination round with the EAC Generals and the Letran Knights looking to take their spot, but thanks to Mythical Fiver John "Ato" Barba, Renz Villegas, Vincent Cunanan, and the timely returns of Bravo and Guadana, the host team’s resilience and collective effort ensured their postseason berth.

FINAL FOUR

In the semifinals, the Pirates faced the Mapua Cardinals, who held the twice-to-win advantage. Despite their best efforts, the Pirates fell short against the eventual champions. John Barba led the charge, but Mapua’s depth and defensive schemes proved too much to overcome. Bravo led four Pirates in double figures but they were helpless in stopping Clint Escamis' 33 points.

This is LPU's sixth Final Four appearance in seven years, but the last time they made the NCAA Finals was in Season 94.

AWARDS

MYTHICAL FIVE | JOHN BARBA

John Barba’s stellar performances throughout the season earned him a well-deserved spot in the Mythical Five. His ability to score consistently and contribute on the boards highlighted his value to the team. Meanwhile, Renz Villegas emerged as a reliable second option for the Pirates, providing scoring and defensive contributions throughout the season. Vincent Cunanan was a defensive standout, leading the team in steals while also showcasing his playmaking skills. This is a good thing because the intangibles he brings will be his ticket to the PBA.

While the LPU Pirates’ Season 100 campaign ended in the Final Four, their achievements and individual performances stand as a testament to their hard work and perseverance. As they set their sights on next season, the Pirates remain a team to watch, ready to make waves in the NCAA once again.
