I remember how Gangsta's Paradise became torture in a lot of Worlds of Fun outlets because they were rapping the song badly or they were using the beat to just freestyle rap badly.
Remember when they combined the beat of this song to Death Threat's Ilibing ng Buhay?
Ugh.
With that said, there's a reason why teenagers with baggy shorts, metal chains, Mang Kepweng bandannas, and crappy hairstyles love this song.
Gangsta's Paradise is the precursor of Lose Yourself in my opinion because they have the same awesome beat with the same oomph in their lyrics.
Coolio had a lot of great songs like I See You When You Get There (fitting considering the time I am blogging about this), Fantastic Voyage, and Hit 'Em High (collab from the Space Jam soundtrack) but Gangsta's paradise is his number one hit.
Especially if you like Dangerous Minds
- the more serious version of Jon Lovitz's High School High -
starring Michelle Pfeiffer. You can't like the movie without digging the track.
