Inasmuch as the Stockton to Malone duo failed to win against Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen, Malone missed out in what is said to be a sure-fire win when his Los Angeles Lakers lost to the Chauncey Billups and Ben Wallace-led Detroit Pistons.
