So I have been lurking on eBay checking out Lorcana listings.
Lorcana is a Magic: The Gathering-like game in which a player battles another player (or players) to gain points en route to victory.
But the cool thing about Lorcana is that, unlike Magic, or even Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh that speak with a certain audience, Lorcana will work around the Disney universe. I could care less about Zootopia and Raya, but I will mark out if I see enchanted cards of Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy, and the storybook tales from Snow White to Mulan.
At the moment, I bought one The First Chapter blaster box, three The First Chapter blister packs, four Rise of the Floodborn blister packs, and ten Rise of the Floodborn blaster packs.
The great thing about buying the cards attracted me is that it combines investment with card gaming. I never forgot about the fact that I was playing Magic: The Gathering back in the '90s and I never saw the potential of it as an investment. Back then, I was living within an allowance, and for a 13-year-old kid, you can only buy so many packs. Had I known what I know now, I would have veered away from weenie creatures to check out Ice Age, Alliance, Fourth Edition, Homelands, and even Mirage blaster boxes. I never had the chance to get in the game during the First Ed and Beta cards, but I would not have shied away from getting a Black Lotus and even a Mox gem. At least if the investment side of the card game pays off, there is a chance that I would be time-lapsing on a good deal.
It would be cool if my son asks for money and all I would do is to flick around an Enchanted Elsa or Mickey Mouse and everything would have been paid off, and he could do anything with the balance.
And this is the quandary I also have - would I open the boxes or will I just sell them eventually without knowing its contents?
Anyway, check out the highest-rated cards of The First Chapter and Rise of the Floodborn sets.
