As a lifelong WWE fan, I hate the fact that Edge is now in AEW.
Basically, we traded Jade Cargill for the Hall of Famer.
Adam Copeland kept his music as well as his pyro. He also had an awesome Titantron or whatever they call this in AEW.
With that said, how these two were presented are opposites.
Cargill is far from her snotty image in AEW. Yes, she still thinks highly of herself - as she calls herself "The Bag," according to the ESPN interview she conducted a while back - but there is an aura of humbleness in the way she speaks. It feels as if she is talking like an athlete, and I guess she will have that "top star" aura when she debuts.
I hated how they debuted Adam Copeland.
First of all, we all know how close Edge and Christian are. They are practically brothers and in the ever-thinning world of reality and wrestling reality, you'd probably think that Christian is responsible for bringing Edge to AEW.
So why is Christian Cage acting stunned?
And why is Edge helping Darby Allin and Sting? I know Sting is one of his childhood heroes in the sense that he was a teen when Stinger was fighting the likes of Ric Flair but comparing him to his bond with Cage is just insane.
I wish they just presented him on top of the ramp and just looked at the ring with Christian and his posse shocked to the point that they just forgot that they were beating on Sting.
With that said, at least this breathes new life to Edge. The 4 AEW pillars could use a legend of his star power to level their games up. Edge got stuck in a loop of retirement run after retirement run as WWE concentrated on their other stars. I don't know how long his contract is with AEW but they can basically have a Hardy Boyz versus Edge and Christian match as the perfect end to all of their careers.
Hopefully, Tony Khan puts him in a situation where he's going to be valuable.
Because you know, he is kind of like CM Punk... but less volatile. And he's basically the locker room leader that AEW needs.
Anyway for WWE fans, we'll still have this.
