2025 PBA DRAFT ORDER | VERY EARLY EDITION

QUENTIN MILLORA BROWN
QUENTIN MILLORA BROWN

Let’s say the 2024-25 PBA season ended today, with TNT locked into the 12th spot and Barangay Ginebra securing the 11th. Starhorse has officially acquired the Terrafirma franchise, but the bigger surprise is Rain or Shine (ROS) stacking up on draft assets.

Thanks to the Henry Galinato trade, ROS now holds two late first-round picks and three second-rounders.

And about that seemingly “worthless” second-round pick Ginebra got from Terrafirma in the Paolo Hernandez and Didat Hanapi trade? It’s actually the 13th pick overall. Not bad at all.

San Miguel clearly needs to shake up their roster, especially now that they’re holding a mid-first-round pick and two second-rounders—picks they might actually use this time, unlike in past seasons. But here’s the catch: can they pull off what TNT did? Remember, TNT managed to snag quality rookies even without a first or second-round pick.

And while TNT is once again without picks in the first two rounds, they probably aren’t too worried. They’ve got a knack for securing their preferred players through trades or rookie free agency. Like it or not, Chot Reyes knows how to find guys who fit his system. Say what you will, but that’s a skill that keeps TNT in the mix.

So, the upcoming Season 50 Draft—or the 2025 PBA Draft—could swing either way. It might be shallow, or it could be loaded, especially with prospects from international leagues and the usual crop of collegiate and semi-pro stars. I’m thinking of dropping a mock draft in a few days, but unless there’s a major surprise, here’s how things are shaping up so far:
