I was watching the latest episode of 1N2D when I had to pause and write this. Back in Season 3, they introduced Lee Yong Jin as an intern. He wasn’t that funny at first since he was still getting a feel for the members, but he eventually found his groove. That said, this season needs Im Woo Il as an intern.
The guy is hilarious. His first appearance as the unhinged 1N2DÂ version of Mickey 17Â was pure entertainment.
I’ve also seen him in Apartment 404, where his role was mostly just him fanboying over BLACKPINK’s Jennie, and even then, he was a scene-stealer.
In the KBS Building episode, Kim Jong Min initially seemed lazy about bringing Woo Il back in. But the more I watched, the more I felt like Jong Min was actually trying to give his guy some mainstream exposure. I have no idea what Woo Il’s catchphrase even means or why it works, but in Japan and Korea, comedians often use these signature lines and gestures to blow up—and I think Woo Il is on the verge of that moment.
1N2D would be incredible with him in the mix. He reminds me of legends like Kim Jun Ho and Lee Su Geun. Sure, the show already has established comedians in Cho Sae Ho and Moon Se Yoon, but both act more like leaders. What they need is someone new to push around—while still letting him get his way.
Yoo Seon Ho has shown great improvement, and adding Lee Joon was a solid move. DinDin has also evolved, shifting from the snarky kid to a younger version of Lee Kyung Kyu. Nam Chang Hee and HANNAE are solid part-time cast members.
And then there’s Dex. He’s a great fit too—this episode featured him a lot. But with all the shows he’s juggling (The Bloody Game, Single’s Inferno, The Zone), he’s bound to be a variety star no matter what.
Im Woo Il, though? 1N2DÂ is the perfect place for him to thrive.
